The Glenelg Community Hospital provides high quality, cost effective holistic care and services to its customers. The Hospital has always nurtured family values and continues to foster a sense of community spirit through their committed professional team.

We are a 46 bed, not for profit facility and have been contributing to the provision of quality care to the community since our opening in 1950. Our hospital, in collaboration with accredited private specialists, offers high quality, patient focussed care in a broad spectrum of speciality fields.

The Staff and Management of Glenelg Community Hospital recognise the important role our hospital plays as a part of the local community and in the provision of services to regional, interstate and international patients.

Located 50 metres from the beach our facility has beautiful surroundings providing a picturesque, relaxing setting for recovery. With a range of shopping, restaurant and accommodation facilities available nearby, an ideal setting is provided for family or friends supporting the patient.

Additional services provided to our patients and the community include a Pre- Admissions Clinic and Case Management.

Glenelg Community Hospital does not provide a casualty or accident and emergency service direct to the public.

Glenelg Community Hospital Inc. acknowledges Kaurna people as the traditional owners and custodians of this land. We respect their spiritual relationship with country that has developed over thousands of years, and the cultural heritage and beliefs that remain important to Kaurna People today.

COVID - 19 Precautions


We are following the Australian Government and SA Health latest advice and guidelines which is updated daily.

At GCH we have implemented the following:

  • All persons entering the building are required to check in via QR code or sign in sheet and are required to wear a surgical mask.
  • All patients are asked at their pre-admission phone call appropriate screening questions. If you are deemed to be at risk due to symptoms or other information you provide, you will be prevented from entry to the Hospital. 
  • The patient should be the only person entering the Hospital at the time of Admission (unless they require a carer).
  • Remember hand hygiene is important. Please use the available hand sanitiser stations at the entrance and throughout the Hospital.

Current Visitor Restrictions: (Requests for visitors outside of these guidelines will be considered on a case by case basis.)

  • Visitors must wear a surgical mask at all times whilst in the hospital, including in the patient room.
  • Visitors to remain within the patient room.
  • Social distancing must be maintained.
